Here She Is!

Today we received a wonderful call from our agency letting us know that by 10:30 a.m. tomorrow we will have our "Letter of Acceptance" (LOA) in our hands courtesy of Federal Express! We will sign the LOA and return it with two other travel documents we will be working on tonight. It's possible we will be leaving for China during the last week of August!

Now that we have "officially" been approved for the adoption, we can finally post photos of our beautiful daughter!!! So, here she is (drum roll please!) .....

Xu Qiu Yan
Born December 31, 1993

Currently Living in Nanjing, China
Coming Home to Her Forever Family SOON!!

Saw your link on RQ as having received your referral today/recently. And although all the babies from China are just beautiful, I think your "baby" captured my heart the most this time around.

Congratulations to all 3 of you. I pray you will travel soon and finalize your FOREVER FAMILY quickly.

What an exciting adventure you are all on together.

How fun!!!! I have to say I saw your blog and was sooo excited for all 3 of you. I have a 13 year old and it really is a fun age. She sounds like an amazing young girl. I truly wish you all the best of everything. I hope they will allow more older children to be placed if they desire. I would take an older child in a heartbeat. Enjoy!!!

Congratulations!
We are in the process of adopting from China ourselves. I was unaware that you could adopt older children.
Is it a completely different process?
We would be very interested in doing the same. I couldn't find any info on it in your blog... if you have a chance, please email me at: pauldecember@gmail.com
Congrats again, I am so happy for you!

Congratulations to all three of you, she is really a lovely young lady!
We have a 17 years old son and would have liked to adopt a sister not so much younger than him. Unfortunately in our country it is not allowed to adopt children older than 7 (and our process started 2 years ago) so we are currently waiting for a referral for a 3-7 years old. As our LID is May 2006 we probably have to wait for another 12-18 months unless there is a special and quicker matching process for older kids. Do you know anything about that? But any way, we would be very greatful to learn something from your experience. It would be great if more older children were given the opportunity to join a family and I hope you will share your experience to encourage other people to do the same as you did.

What a blessing you will be to your new daughter. It breaks my heart how many girls age out of the system. I have to tell you that we have thought about adopting an older child in the future (3-5 years from now) as well. God bless and I can't wait to follow your journey.

They adopted Lana who was maybe a year or so younger than your daughter... really great insight to her transition and lots of goose bumpy posts. They are a beautiful family.

I was just amazed when I saw you are adopting a 14 year old. She looks so mature and well adjusted. You are very lucky and she is lucky too. We just adopted a 14 month old girl from China in December.

Hi there. I came across your blog from the RQ list and was pleasantly surprised to see Yan! I remember reading her profile on the agency list and immediately being captivated. I hoped and prayed for her wish for a family to come true, and watched the list daily hoping to see her matched. I actually got teary-eyed when I saw that a family was moving foward with her adoption! Congratulations - I'm beyond excited for her and for your family!

Congratulations on your impending adoption of Yan! What an incredible journey you are embarking upon. I hope you join the Nanjingkids yahoo group, it is a wonderful resource for folks who've adopted from Nanjing SWI... and you just might find out about other friends of Yan's or children she might have known at the orphanage!
